Admissions

Access to EYLA is via one of our partner schools in the borough of Newham. Entrance to the Academy is dependent upon attendance at a school in Newham.

Although parents can refer their children it is important that we have a working relationship with the respective schools.  Parents must inform the school of their intention to refer their child.

We subsequently expect parents to attend monthly meetings, assist with fundraising,
act as volunteers and help and inform the
work of the academy.

Applying to the Academy

There are four basic steps for entrance to the academy: -

Step 1: Access

  • Referral from educational establishment
  • Introductory interview with parents/carers, prospective student and Academy staff
  • Parents/Carers given information pack to read and consider

Step 2: Assessment

  • Academy staff assess student data
  • Initiate student personal development plan
  • Time for family to consider their application

Step 3: Agreements

  • Student accepted into the academy
  • Home visit arranged to discuss provisional programme
  • All parties to sign various agreements

Step 4: Arrangements

  • Dates for induction confirmed
  • Other key dates and information given
